Bergamo, European Capital of Cheese

FORME – Bergamo, European Capital of Cheese is an event dedicated to Italian cheese excellence. Strong of its European supremacy, with 9 D.O.P. dairy products produced in the territory of the orobic capital (Italy has a total of 50) and the success of the previous editions, Bergamo and the Lombardy Region are the leader of a project for the enhancement and promotion at the international level of the entire Italian dairy industry . Four days of initiatives, exhibitions-market, workshops and meetings with events dedicated exclusively to professionals, but also many activities open to the public in the spectacular setting of the Upper City and the fairgrounds.

Organized by the Promotion of Territory Association in collaboration with the Lombardy Region, the project was presented during a press conference that outlined its objectives, strategies and program and saw interventions among others by Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region , Fabio Rolfi, Deputy Mayor for Agriculture, Food and Green Systems, Paolo Malvestiti, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Bergamo and John Farrand, General Manager of the World Cheese Awards, expressly arrived in Italy from London.

is a network project created in 2015, dedicated to the national and international promotion of the entire Italian dairy and cheese sector.

The objectives:

  • Increase the perception of the value and worth of Italian cheese.
  • Increase sales, national and international.
  • Improve the knowledge of the products and the territories from which they come from.
  • Promote sustainable models that take into account animal welfare and the environment.
  • Creating a culture of quality.
  • Increase incomes from related industries, with particular reference to tourism, catering and culture.
